Recognising the importance and huge potential of China’s market for Malaysian rubber products, MREPC organised a specialised mission to China from 20 - 26 August 2017. Led by Ms Low Yoke Kiew, CEO of MREPC, the focus of the mission was on rubber medical devices in the cities of Xiamen and Guangzhou.
The delegation met with medical professionals and healthcare personnel during the educational seminars in Xiamen and Guangzhou which featured experts from China and Malaysia. The educational seminars were part of MREPC’s continuous efforts to reach out to healthcare personnel in China to enhance awareness and promote the proper usage of rubber medical gloves in minimising hospital-acquired infections. Besides highlighting current developments in the healthcare industry, the seminars provided a platform for industry experts to establish networking with the Malaysian delegation. The seminars were well attended drawing more than 200 participants.
The mission also comprised business-matching sessions for eight Malaysian manufacturers who participated in the programme, namely Koon Seng, Top Glove, TCS Quality, Hartalega, Adventa, Riverstone, Titi Glove and Biomax. The itinerary also included a roundtable discussion with rubber medical device importers, buyers, distributors and associations in Xiamen and Guangzhou. The interactive discussions provided useful feedback on trade in rubber medical devices between Malaysia and China as well as updates on China’s healthcare industry.
The delegates also visited Nosocomial Infection Control Centre and Camphill Group in Xiamen as well as the Guangdong Private Dental Association and Double One Latex Products Co. Ltd in Guangzhou to learn the latest developments in infection control and the healthcare sector in China.
