Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council - MREPC

MREPC Europe Office

The European Office of the MREPC was set up in August 2007 in Hertford, U.K., and is located within the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre, the UK-based research and promotion centre of the Malaysian Rubber Board.

MREPC's European Office role is to facilitate the exports of Malaysian rubber products into Europe. In this role, the European Office monitors the development and changes in policies and new regulations concerning the importation into and use of rubber products in Europe, in particular countries of the European Union. As natural rubber latex gloves constitute the predominant export of rubber products from Malaysia, special attention is given to the dissemination of information on health and safety factors relating to their use in healthcare facilities. With growing environmental concerns, the European Office also provides information to consumers of rubber products on the eco-friendliness of natural rubber.

The European Office also acts as a trade and investment route to the Malaysian rubber product manufacturing sector, in particular assisting European companies in outsourcing and forming joint ventures with Malaysian suppliers. In relation to this, the European Office maintains close contact with Malaysian government agencies in Europe such as the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA). Currently, MREPC has temporarily ceased operation of the European Office in the UK. The European Office operations will be revived in a new location in the near future.
