MREPC Participated in Economic, Promotion and Investment Mission to China

MREPC participated in the economic, promotion and investment mission to China from 21 – 24 August 2018. The aim of the mission was to further promote and strengthen exports of Malaysian commodities as well as encourage investments. The mission was led by the new Minister of Primary Industries, YB Puan Teresa Kok, with participation from various agencies, namely MREPC, Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB), Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) and Malaysian Timber Council (MTC).

During the mission, MREPC organised a networking dinner with China’s rubber automotive component industry members in Guangzhou. About 40 organisations attended the event, including the Rubber Industry Association of Guangzhou, Guangzhou Motor Vehicle Repairing Association, Guangzhou Ju De Auto Parts Co. Ltd, BYD Auto Co. Ltd, and Guang Ken Rubber Group Co. Ltd. During the dinner, MREPC, MRB and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) made presentations on investment potential and incentives for the rubber industry in Malaysia.

The networking dinner provided a platform to explore potential partnerships between China companies and Malaysian manufacturers in the manufacturing of rubber automotive parts in Malaysia. The dinner was also intended to encourage investment from China companies in the rubber industry in Malaysia. The event also provided useful feedback on trade in rubber products between Malaysia and China, especially rubber automotive components.

During the mission, MREPC and MRB also made a courtesy visit to China Rubber Industry Association (CRIA) in Beijing to exchange information, foster closer cooperation and share experience in the development of rubber trade between China and Malaysia.
